Digital art is a very wide term. It can be a digital darkroom, which is making the effects that would normally be done with a magnifyer, like multiple exposure, various filters, masking etc. It can also be a photomontage or a photomanipulation, or a digital collage. It can also be a picture created from scratch in a graphics editing programme, either vector or a bitmap one.
